Assess


Adult
(About onset of puberty)


Scene: If the scene is not safe or at any time becomes unsafe, get out!

Patient: Check for response, patient unresponsive or not moving…

Alert EMS or activate the emergency action plan

Breathing
Look, listen and feel for at least 5 seconds, but no more than 10.

Adult
Initial: 2 rescue breaths Give each breath in 1 second. Make chest visibly rise.

Rescue breathing only:
About 1 breath every 5-6 seconds.

Advanced airway in Place:
1 breath every 6-8 seconds ( 8-10 breaths per minute).

Child
Initial: 2 rescue breaths Give each breath in 1 second. Make chest visibly rise.

Rescue breathing only:
About 1 breath every 3-5 seconds.

Advanced airway in Place:
1 breath every 6-8 seconds ( 8-10 breaths per minute).

Infant
